The two walls that are very different while both are wooden structure create the space where people can 'think' about things staying on the floor supported by the two different structures. Our conventional consideration about the contemporary wooden structure in Japan is separated into two poles. One is of ordinary houses built by conventional Japanese method or frame structure, and another is the traditional building. But, wood is very flexible material, as it allows us to make a variety of shapes and allows a variety of the usage. The flexibility and ease to replace each piece of the structure enables the dwellers to maintain this building as long as they want and give them the pleasure to feel the passage of time with the contrast of the old pieces with new. At the same time, it enables the dwellers to transform every part of the building according to their needs. |
